My next weekend by kathi

Next weekend my dad, his girlfriend, my brother Andi, my dad's girlfriend's son Alex and I are going by car to my grandmother's weekend home. It is a small house in "Mühlviertel". I think it's very beautiful there. On Saturday we are going skiing. In the afternoon at about four o'clock we are driving home, because then the ski-lifts at the "Hochficht" closes. In the evening, when we are at home again we are playing a game and drinking tea. On Sunday I'm going to my friend, she lives also in the "Mühlviertel" and she is a very nice girl. There we are playing games and having a lot of fun. On Monday morning we are driving back to Vienna to my dad's flat.

***Winter Landscape-> by Sophia***

This picture looks very cold and unfriendly. There is a little village and in the background are a lot of mountains and forests, everywhere is snow. In the landscape are four houses and a little iced lake. In the foreground is an iceskater and on his left side barks a dog after a little child. The child and the dog have a lot of fun and they have a running competition. In front of the grown up goes another little child with a "Schlitten".I think they are going home because the second little child is looking very tired. Maybe the weather is very windy and of course cold.

♥ WINTERWONDERLAND ♥

I choose picture number 5, because, it`s a review in my childhood, now I am a young Lady.
On this picture there are 5 children and they have a lot of fun together.
Every children have a wonderful colourful sledge.
In this picture are two very friendly snowmans. On of the children act like me when i was younger.
I ever was lying on the sledge in this position too. On girl with red-orange hair draw her sledge uphill the mountain.
in the picture are four trees and infront of one tree is standing a "birdhouse" and there are 5 birds on it. One child is lying on the floor and it looks like how it is crying. One child is driving with its skies.
So, that`s my description of picture number 5.

Our meeting with a police man

Here are some pictures of the meeting with the policeman, Herr Manfred Hirnschrodt, which we had on November 21st. They show how the class differentiated between "COOL" and "UNCOOL", and how intensely people were listening during the course.

Mr. Hirnschrodt went on to explain that only very few people can have a huge influence on a lot bigger group; in general, there often are 3 groups:

1) a small group of people ("alphas") who are the bosses, the ones who do the talking and come up with the bad ideas

2) a crowd of "neutralists", who do not really participate, they are like "lookers-on" - some of them want to be in the small group with the alphas and start doing silly things. Sometimes, they are afraid of becoming a member of group...

... 3) a small group (max. 3), who are the outsiders, the "weak" characters in the society. Very often, they are a little "different" from the rest of the people, or they can just be easily "hurt" (psychologically and physically)

Then we watched a film that showed various different scenes in a school, where students start bullying a small student and end up beating up two people - the little one and another one who tried to help.
The discussions were intense - many of the kids realised how dangerous it can be to hit people or hurt them in any way - when they´re 14 or older, they might go to jail or have to pay big fines!
Some others noticed that the "weaker" ones in a society need somebody to support them sometimes!!! Hopefully, they will actually do that soon, not just think it!
Once again, thank you Mr. Hirnschrodt for coming to our class and trying to help - it was incredibly interesting for all of us!

This picture shows the late afternoon some days before Christmas Eve because the scene is very peaceful. In this painting I can see a big house with a great deal of snow on the roof. I think it‘s a shop. Behind this shop I can see a part of the city. But there aren‘t many lights on, so I think that isn‘t a big city or it could be a suburb. On the veranda there are a few people with winter clothes.
Three children are playing with the snow. In front of the shop there is the quiet street and a red car is driving along. Behind the car there stands a girl with a man who hugs her. I think they are in love! ;-) Beside them there are five more people who are talking. In the front of the house there are two men holding a ladder that leans at the roof. Something terrible happened. A man stucks in the snow with his legs in the air!! I think he died while he was trying to get into the house. He was a thief, I think.

The Winter Landscape(s)

Hello everyone in 4s.
I am terribly sorry for uploading the pictures soooo late, but I´ve had an extremely long day and only got back to my apartment about half an hour ago (it´s 11.30 right now) - Prof. Windischbauer and I were talking about tomorrow´s meeting.... it´s going to be quite interesting!

But, back to business. Here are the tasks that you can choose from:

1) Look at the pictures below and pick one of them. Then describe what you can see on the picture in as much detail as possible! Use there is/there are/there isn´t/aren´t ... AND describe details of the picture using adjectives, colours, and so on.

2) Write a narrative (= story) about one of the events, things you can see on the pictures. You must think of a title, and decide if you want to create a romantic, thrilling, horror or a nice story. (titles like: "The day Billy broke through the ice", or "The snowstorm", "My ski trip disaster", ...) As you can see, the paintings are mostly from the Middle Ages, so the time you should write in should be the PAST TENSE!

The story OR the description should be AT LEAST 200 words - and here are the pictures:

Pic I: A winter landscape by Fridel

(example for description of pic I: There is a man with a young child who is holding a scythe (Sense). He is walking towards his house, past the frozen pond. Next to him, there is a little dark brown dog, running along his left side, barking after the little boy in front of them with a sledge....so, try to use details, ok?)

Picture 2: Avercamp - a masterpiece!

Picture 3: Pieter Bruegel - Landscape with iceskaters and a birdtrap - another masterpiece!

(example beginning for an adventure story for pic 3: It had been a cold night and many people were out on the frozen river that day, when Billy decided, he also wanted to go ice skating. So, he took his skates, told his mum he was leaving and left the house. ... Suddenly, the ice underneath him cracked and he fell in - the water was icy and he felt the pain in his chest (Brustkorb) like pins and needles. What could he do?...)

Picture 4: a more modern version of a winter landscape - for an adventure story perhaps?

Picture 5: Another modern, more child like depiction of a winter landscape...:

There you go, that´s it... pick one of the pictures and do one of the two tasks above - of course, you can do 2 tasks as well - and you can also choose several pictures, too!

All the best, concentrate on writing your text and have fun! I´m really looking forward to seeing your stories or descriptions - they should be finished by Tuesday, I would like to give you some feedback BEFORE Christmas!

Oliver Twist is a story by Charles Dickens that takes place in the middle of the 19th century in London. It’s the story of a young orphan named Oliver Twist. His mother died while he was born. He has moved around through different orphanages and finally he ran away. On the way to London he met a nice boy named Jack Dawkins, also known as the Dodger. The Dodger gave the poor orphan a place to stay and something to eat and drink. Oliver found out that his new "friends" were thieves and they forced Oliver to help them with a robbery. They wanted that Oliver sneaks into a house through a small opening and unlocks the front door. The owners were awakened and Oliver got caught. Oliver's partners in crime disappeared. Oliver told the owners of the house his story and they took him as their own child. Oliver grew up by his new family. At the end of the story an old friend named Mr. Brownlow adopted him.

Hi Grandson!

First we learned how to start up the computer, then how to use the imported programs on the computer. The we go surfing in the internet, there I found many interesting links. Then the children handed out us a worksheet. We have to search some information’s.
I think these afternoon was really interesting an I learned many things. Now I can write e-mails and and can use many other programmes!! ;-)

!BORING!

It`s a pity, that our class is so damage in last time.
I found it very strange, that the teacher get a bad mood, when they come into our class.
The situation in our class isn`t funny, it`s really sad.
A lot of teacher doesn`t like us so much how in the first or second class.
A lot of children realised the problems, but a lot doesn`t.

The teachers are very poor, because 2-4 people in our class doesn`t have some respect of the teachers.

I and a lot of other children arn`t motivated anymore.

It`s a relly shit situation in our class.

Dear, Eve
