Our meeting with a police man

Here are some pictures of the meeting with the policeman, Herr Manfred Hirnschrodt, which we had on November 21st. They show how the class differentiated between "COOL" and "UNCOOL", and how intensely people were listening during the course.

Mr. Hirnschrodt went on to explain that only very few people can have a huge influence on a lot bigger group; in general, there often are 3 groups:

1) a small group of people ("alphas") who are the bosses, the ones who do the talking and come up with the bad ideas

2) a crowd of "neutralists", who do not really participate, they are like "lookers-on" - some of them want to be in the small group with the alphas and start doing silly things. Sometimes, they are afraid of becoming a member of group...

... 3) a small group (max. 3), who are the outsiders, the "weak" characters in the society. Very often, they are a little "different" from the rest of the people, or they can just be easily "hurt" (psychologically and physically)

Then we watched a film that showed various different scenes in a school, where students start bullying a small student and end up beating up two people - the little one and another one who tried to help.
The discussions were intense - many of the kids realised how dangerous it can be to hit people or hurt them in any way - when they´re 14 or older, they might go to jail or have to pay big fines!
Some others noticed that the "weaker" ones in a society need somebody to support them sometimes!!! Hopefully, they will actually do that soon, not just think it!
Once again, thank you Mr. Hirnschrodt for coming to our class and trying to help - it was incredibly interesting for all of us!
